about your legal rights, options and goals involving
Misdemeanor
Defense or other Criminal Defense issues or disputes.
When an individual is arrested and charged with a
misdemeanor crime, all too often the charges are not taken
as seriously as they should. Because the penalties are less
severe than felony crimes, a misdemeanor conviction still
goes on your record, and potentially lead to incarceration
of up to 364 days in jail.
With more and more companies conducting background checks
during the employment hiring process – added to the rate of
unemployment, any criminal conviction may pose to be an
obstacle in seeking employment, housing opportunities, or
any area of your life where prior criminal history is
considered or required to be revealed by law or policy of a
given organization or business.
Another factor to consider is that depending upon the
misdemeanor crime conviction, your criminal history may be
the difference in being charged with a misdemeanor or felony
offense if you ever find yourself on the wrong side of the
law in the future. Certain crimes may allow any other future
related criminal offenses to be escalated to a felony
criminal charge.
Another thing to be aware of relating to misdemeanor charges
is that a misdemeanor in the first degree is often offered
as a plea bargain in order to get you to admit you committed
a crime, trying to make you believe if you do not take the
offer, you WILL serve time in prison. If a trail is
unavoidable, an experienced attorney may be able to get the
charge knocked down further to a misdemeanor in the second
degree, which may allow you to have a sentence of time
served, no probation time, and even the possibility of
allowing you to have the record sealed or expunged
completely. Doing this protects you from having a criminal
record follow you around for the rest of your life.
While the goal in any criminal case is to seek to have all
charges dropped, when the prosecution will not allow that to
happen because of the evidence against you, sometimes
negotiating for a diversion program or a reduction in
charges are the best option for your future.
If arrested for a misdemeanor crime, when you hire Attorney,
William
Twyford,
you can be assured that all the evidence against you will be
closely examined and put under a microscope, all legal
remedies will be explored that may provide you the best

If have questions, concerns, or need to address legal issues
